Casino Games – Pai Gow Poker
Pai Gow Poker is a fun and simple poker game. Pai Gow Poker is played with a 53-card deck, which includes one joker on top of the standard 52-card deck. Online Pai Gow Poker play begins with the initial wager. Each player and the banker then receive seven cards. The role of the banker is rotated amongst the table.
In Online Pai Gow Poker, the seven-card hand is split into two different hands. The first hand needs to have five cards and the second hand needs to have two cards. The 5-card hand must be of higher value than the two-card hand or the player automatically loses. After each player has made their two hands, the banker for the hand will then make their hand based on set casino rules. It should be noted that jokers may only be used to complete a straight, flush or a straight flush. If you cannot complete any of those hands using the joker then the joker is considered an ace.
Upon division into two hands, the banker flips their cards over for comparison or show down with each player. If the player beats both hands of the banker, the player wins. In the event the banker beats the player, the banker wins. Hands resulting in a split (one hand wins, one loses), the result is a push and no money changes hands. If the player has the same valued hand as the banker then the banker wins the hand.
In Pai Gow Poker, the players and the banker all need to pay a 5% commission. As a player, you prepay your commission on every hand. Therefore, if you were betting $50 a hand then you would want to prepay the $2.50 commission when you make your wager. When you are the banker, however, you do not pay the commission until after you are done being the banker. The banker pays commission on net winnings. A player may decline the right to act as the banker.
Pai Gow Poker Hand Rankings
As with any game of poker, Pai Gow Poker assigns a predetermined order of precedence to each hand combination. This order is the method by which hands are ranked and compared to one another.
• Five of a kind is the highest hand. The five of a kind relies on the joker for the fifth card.
• Royal Flush, which is Ace through ten all of the same suit, and can include the use of the joker.
• Four of a Kind, which may not include the use of a joker.
• Full House, which is three of the same card value, combined with two of the same value, such as King, King, King, Nine, Nine.
• Flush – Five cards of the same suit. The flush may include the use of the joker in Pai Gow Poker.
