Casino Games - Three Card Rummy

Three Card Rummy is a casino game in which casino players face off against the dealer in a hand of rummy with three cards.  To begin a hand of Three Card Rummy, each player must ante within the acceptable stakes of the three card rummy table.  Players may additionally place a bet in the bonus bet area, which pays out additional money in the event the player’s hand has a value less than twelve points.

Once bets are placed, the dealer distributes three cards to each player and to himself.  As is the case in traditional rummy games, the object of three card rummy is to hold fewer points than that of the opposition, which in the instance of three card rummy – your opposition is the dealer.  Each player is given the opportunity to act upon their three card rummy hand, starting to the dealer’s left and working clockwise around the table.  If the player suspects his hand will beat the dealer, a raise bet is placed.  Should the three card rummy player decide his hand has poor showdown value, the player folds – thus surrendering his ante and bonus bets.

Upon action of each player, the dealer shows his hand.  The dealer must have a hand totaling less than twenty in order to qualify.  Should the dealer qualify, he compares his hand to each player – paying out those who defeat him and collecting from those players he beats.  Hands are made by way of pairs and suited runs.  The unmatched cards result in points.  The lower point total between dealer and player wins the three card rummy hand.

Three Card Rummy Payouts

In three card rummy, ante bets are paid out at even money rates.  The raise bet is paid out depending on the player’s point total.  Should the player hold a hand that is valued evenly to the dealer, the hand is a push and the raise is merely refunded.

In the event the player possesses a hand with no points, he is paid out four to one on his three card rummy raise bet.  Should a player hold one to five points, he is paid at a rate of two to one on his raise bet.  Players holding six to nineteen points in his hand are paid out even money on the raise bet in three card rummy.  It should be further noted that the raise bet pays out only when the three card rummy player beats the dealer.

The bonus bet in three card rummy wins if the player’s hand has a value of twelve points or less.  Moreover, the bonus bet is not dependant upon dealer qualification, nor is it dependant upon the player beating the dealer in order to pay out.  In three card rummy, players holding eleven or twelve points are paid out four to one on their bonus bets, while players are paid out even money for hands ranging from seven to ten points in value.  Additionally, a player possessing a three card rummy hand worth one to six points in value are rewarded at a rate of  two to one on their bonus bet money.  A player showing down a hand with zero points earns a twenty-five to one payday, while players making a suited run of three cards are rewarded with a 100 to one payout on their bonus bet.
